What is Myofascial Release cupping?
Myofascial cupping is a therapy that utilises suction pumps to lift the underlying skin to create a vacuum.
The suction created by the cups helps to release restrictions in the fascia, reduce pain and increase flexibility, by working directly on the muscles and surrounding fascia.
Plastic cups are used with a hand operated vacuum pump to induce a vacuum inside a cylinder sealed to the skin. The vacuum “draws” the soft tissue perpendicular to the skin thus providing a tensile force to the soft tissue system, which can be left in one site for a prolonged period or moved along the tissue.
