Entry requirements
This course is available to students with no previous massage experience or qualification who are interested in qualifying in and practising Sports Massage.
We highly recommend that students follow this course with the level 4 Sports massage qualification, to allow you to work directly with injury and rehabilitation.

Students who are already qualified at a level 3 body massage, need only attend the last 4 days training. Although you are still required to sit the level 3 sports anatomy exam.

Please note – Most PT anatomy certificates do not cover the framework required for VTCT/iTEC and are not accepted. The Sports Massage Anatomy exam must be taken, which is included in the course.

Students should possess a good understanding of written and spoken English.

Description

iTEC Sports Massage Course Level 3

This course is available to the complete beginner, or existing therapists wishing to expand their techniques and broaden their knowledge.

The Sports Massage Level 3 course is  for students who want to  work specifically within the sporting industry, or to assist their clients with more advanced techniques.

Please note that we advise students who do not want to work within the sporting industry to embark on the full body massage diploma and for those wishing to add advanced massage skills to complete the CPD courses once qualified.

This course is specifically designed to introduce you to the sporting industry with progression to study the Level 3 Sports Extendable qualification and/or level 4 sports massage which will allow you to work more clinically and specifically with injuries.

Time will be spent covering advanced palpation skills to allow the student to fully understand soft tissue dysfunctions.

The course covers:

    • Pre event massage treatments
    • Post event massage treatments
    • Maintenance massage techniques for dysfunction and inter sports treatments
    • Postural analysis
    • Passive and Active stretching for rehabilitation
    • Anatomy, physiology and pathologies

The course also covers basics of nutrition, soft tissue dysfunction, principles of health and fitness, professional conduct, patient care, client assessment, working with vulnerable adults, health, safety and emergency protocol.

Course work includes – 3 Assignments to be completed: Professional Practise in Sport, Soft Tissue Dysfunction and Principles of Health and Fitness.

15 Case studies to be completed on 5 separate clients.

Final exam includes a practical examination and a 50 question multiple choice, anatomy and physiology test.

The Sports Massage Level 3 course will enable students to work professionally as a sports massage therapist and to join the Sports Massage Association with a Level 3 membership.

This is an industry standard and internationally recognised qualification.
