Description

A one day Intensive continual professional development course for qualified level 3  massage therapists.

A one day course combining Soft Tissue Release (STR) and Muscle Energy Techniques (MET).

STR and MET work perfectly together and can meet the needs of your clients that standard massage cannot.

Incorporating these techniques into your treatments, allows the client to recover quicker, whilst taking the strain away from the physical aspects of massage for you the therapist.

These techniques are designed to be incorporated into your treatment plans for your clients, not used as a stand alone treatment.

STR is an advanced sports massage technique used to assess, stretch and manage the soft tissue of the body; muscles, fascia, ligaments and tendons.

The soft tissues of the body are often prone to injury, acute or chronic,  which leads to swelling adhesions and fibrosis (scarring) of the tissue, this results in pain, loss of mobility, strength and function.

STR targets specific areas of tension within an individual muscle with the aim of removing scar tissues and adhesion to relieve muscular tension and pain

STR uses precise pressure combined with passive or active stretching, (lock and stretch).

MET – An advanced form of manual therapy that was developed in 1948 by Fred Mitchell, Sr, DO. The technique is used to lengthen, strengthen and improve the range of movement of muscles.

MET allows the individual to contract and stretch the muscle to its full potential and takes the joint to its full range of movement. When this is repeated positive results can be gained in muscle flexibility and strength.

Benefits include: Strengthening weak muscles, Increasing joint mobility, Restoring normal tone in hypertonic muscles, improving musculoskeletal function, and boosting circulation.
